Aberdeen Standard Investments Names Thailand Chief, Makes Promotion

Aberdeen Standard Investments ASI is among a number of firms making a point of developing business in Thailand. A few days ago Julius Baer, the Swiss private bank which has ramped up its presence in the southeast Asian country, issued a wealth management report stressing the potential of Thailand.
Aberdeen Standard Investments has appointed Robert Penaloza as head of Thailand has and promoted Michelle Lopez as head of Australian equities.
Based in Bangkok, Penaloza will lead a 60-strong team in Thailand to lead the development of the business. He joined the firm 22 years ago as an Asian equities assistant investment manager in Singapore, and most recently has been head of Australian equities.
He played a central role in setting up ASI’s Thailand business. From 2001 to 2008, he was the chief investment officer and later the CEO for Aberdeen in Thailand.
Lopez, meanwhile, has more than 15 years’ experience in te ASI Australian equities team. Based in Sydney, she has contributed as a senior member of the team for a number of years, most recently as deputy head of Australian equities.
